6 Gorgeous Prints

The future of summer 2021 fashion trends seems precarious at the moment, but good for us, the spring-summer 2020 fashion shows took place months before the normal ways of life got sucked into the global Covid-19 pandemic war.

The latest trends for 2021 as seen during the long parade of models, have finally come to market. There are trends that look at decades past and there are trends that see into the future with a contemporary approach. From artisanal crochet and graphic polka dots to disco collars and '60s wallpaper prints, many designers led the SS’21 trend pack. The trick, however, is that most designers have interpreted the old trends in fresh ways. Amid a sea of minimalism, seeing bold new takes on prints for the coming season is a welcome break from the muted toned monotony. From Marc Jacobs and Prabal Gurung to Gucci and Balenciaga, there are some genuinely fun prints you should be stocking up this season. Keep scrolling, we have curated the most popular prints for 2021, straight from the runways.

1. Florals

It wouldn't be a print trend report without some sort of floral reference, now would it? There are some new prints this year and some major comebacks – like florals. Florals this year are huge, with many sub-trends under the same umbrella. If this doesn’t remind you of Miranda Priestly rolling her eyes at florals not being groundbreaking in Devil Wears Prada, we don’t know what will?

Vintage Florals

Marc Jacobs presented an exceptionally beautiful runway for their SS’20 shows that celebrated prints, colours, and ’70s-style silhouettes. One of the standout prints was also vintage in style with over-the-top boldly coloured florals. We are expecting to see this everywhere come summer!

Tiny Florals

There were many kinds of florals as part of the spring 2021 fashion trends, but something about the truly small and delicate ones really caught our attention. Tory Burch delivered a delicate strapless dress covered in a cheerful and colorful print of small flowers with stems. The tiny florals at Givenchy were primarily used for long, modest dresses. At Stella McCartney, there were spring garden party vibes, with a realistic small floral print complete with background greenery.

Rose Print

Roses were seen as a major innovation among the rest of floral prints for 2021 summery prints. Designers like Carolina Herrera, Richard Quinn, Lela Rose have honed in on roses, specifically, to make their spring collections feel, well, spring-y. And the result is incredibly elegant. Models on catwalks were totally engulfed with roses. Rose is considered to be the queen of all flowers representing romance, mystique, and femininity (it also happens to be the national flower of the United States).

2. Rainbows

Rainbow prints are a statement-making spring/ summer 2021 print trend. At Dior, people saw flowy dresses that featured vertical rainbow stripes connected by a gradient effect. Believe us, the dress is love at first sight. At Paco Rabanne, a long-sleeved turtleneck covered in horizontal rainbow stripes was spotted that can transport anyone to a college campus back in the ‘70s. When life seems to be a bit dull right now, everything (for spring 2021) feels technicolor with this hell of a print. It is a must-try this season!

3. Jungle Prints

Versace backed jungle prints more than any other print for spring 2021 fashion trends. Moreover, they got none other than the stunning Jennider Lopez to be the showstopper for this collection. In case you’ve forgotten, JLo broke the internet back in the year 200 with her barely-there jungle print maxi dress.

Ideal for wearing in high summer or on holiday with a mojito in hand, these prints literally bring the flora, fauna and other tropic elements to your outfits.

4. Tie Dye

Once reserved for hoodies, these days, tie-dye is very much the high-fashion print. Vibrant tie dyes that create a colourful kaleidoscope are one of the highly popular prints for 2021. This trend that has been in the trending prints scene from the past few years, makes perfect and total sense to be worn right now. Despite the fact that the ‘70s were an overwhelming decade from which designers drew inspiration this season, the way they have utilized it this time felt totally modern.

There were a few different takes on tie-dye at Dior, like tie-dyed denim outfits consisting of  trousers, skirts and jackets., as well as a few tie-dyed fabric jumpsuits. Prabal Gurung presented the tie-dye on his runway in the form of colorful curve-hugging dresses covered in a circular tie-dye print. There are some touches of tie-dye at Alberta Ferretti and Tod’s shows also.

5. Polka Dots

Inspired by colorful Indian bazaars and opulent victorian scarves, there is something timeless and classy about bohemian prints. The equally carefree prints have returned to the summer 2021 print trends. English fashion boutique, Temperley London decorated a wide range of feminine dresses in this print. It was no surprise to see bohemian prints return to Etro’s runway – a label known for gorgeous silk scarf designs. Fashion gurus and magazines like Harper’s Bazaar are referring to this spring 2021 runway pattern as “psychedelic” rather than ‘60s wallpaper-esque. Suits and dresses alike were decorated with boho red, blue and purple prints at Halpern. At Alberta Ferretti, flowy summer dresses brought a reminder of the ‘60s and early ‘70s hippie fashions. Lastly, we also have psychedelic florals
