Earth Tone Clothing Styles From Hollywood to the Royals

From somber colors like ochre, beige, olive green, umber, and terracotta right down to the type of clothing, there are many different ways to incorporate earth tone outfits into your wardrobe. Be it the rock grunge look, the hippie bohemian vibe, to a formal and sophisticated attire, earth-tone clothing can be worn on any given day, and can be customized to fit any individual style.
When we say earthy tones, we mean earth and mud and the browns, yellows, and reds that are fairly warm in tone. Browns are timeless and can blend with any style or imagination, and compliments every skin tone. And the best part? Earthy tones have made a fashionable comeback this year.
AW18 showcased an array of designers who leveraged on the trending hues; from boots to purses, coats, and bags, neutral shades pack a punch of class and sophistication to any attire and feel breezy and autumnal at the same time. From last year’s camel hues showcased by Fendi to Chloe’s retro-inspired 70s catwalk styles, to Batsheva Fall 2020’s prairie styles, many fashionistas hit the carpet in serene, earthy shades of clothing. Gillian Jacobs was recently seen wearing a Batsheva Fall 2018 print dress with ruffles and trims in contrasting colors. The demure look exudes a very vintage vibe, with the entire collection showcasing styles that are boho-chic and very prairie. To give the old-school look a modern twist, Gillian paired her dress with white clogs and a very minimalist tone of make-up.
Nikki Reed – We all love Nikki Reed’s wardrobe! She has it all – delectable shades of earthy tone clothing, mingled with a bohemian style, and contemporary fashion. But we’re still reeling from this Sophie Theallet Spring 2016 archive dress that she recently wore to the launch of her new eco-line of jewelry called Bayou With Love, made from recyclables.
Catherine Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge – During her first visit to India, the Duchess was seen wearing a slew of earth tone outfits with crisp patterns that exude grace, elegance, and simplicity. We all know the Duchess loves her floral print dresses, as she’s been seen in a slew of them lately, but her India tour showcased some brilliant earth tone clothing, and we can’t stop crooning.
Ahead of their recent tour of Pakistan, the Royal Couple, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge made a visit to the Aga Khan Center in London. As usual, the Duchess’ love for earth tone clothing could be seen with her look. Cascading a mix of elegance, she picked a page from her earth-tone wardrobe and pulled off this boho-chic with a non-fussy, hippie vibe was the Duchess in a billowing earthy green sheer silk-georgette maxi dress from across x Girl.
Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex – On October 15th, 2019, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex made an appearance wearing one of her top-to-bottom earth tone outfits, and we’re in love with the class, sophistication and relatability that this look exudes. Attending the WellChild Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, the Duchess showed expressed her love for earth tone clothing once again with this green fitted dress from Parosh. Her style remains minimalist and highlights her beautiful curves.
But what also struck us was her jaw-dropping and sleek Montunas ‘Guaria’ bag which she effortlessly paired with her green Parosh dress, Manolo Blahnik suede pumps and a chic Sentaler camel overcoat. The Duchess was also seen wearing the same dress in her first-ever interview since her engagement to Prince Harry.
During her recent trip to Africa, the Duchess was seen in some eye-catching earth tone clothing with a very laid back, relatable and modern elegance. One of our favorite looks was the striped Martin Grant dress that she wore during last year’s royal tour to Bondi Beach. Easy, breezy, and effortlessly chic.
