The story of Missoni's kaleidoscope of zigzagged, waved, and striped patterns began in 1948 when founding partners Rosita and Ottavio met at the Olympic games in London. Married in 1953, the two soon established a small knitwear store in Gallarate, Italy. Since then, their bold, geometric designs continue to make waves on the fashion stage with Rosita and Ottavio’s three children at the helm. The brand expanded into sportswear, fragrances, home furnishing, and hotels.

M Missoni, the main line’s more youthful and lower-priced brand, was introduced in 1998. This cool, free-spirited little sister takes on a casual but energetic persona that appeals to the non-conformist. While pattern, color, and texture remain central to each season’s collections, M Missoni manages to consistently inject new life into its designs.

For Spring-Summer 2016, M Missoni stays faithful to Missoni’s famous kaleidoscopic zigzag patterns and chevron prints with an injection of circus extravaganza through collaborative partner Io Donna. The playful, fresh looks feature unexpected color combinations amongst updates to its signature clingy, ribbed knits. Some items feature whimsical, swirling shapes while other pieces emphasize classic knits of the off-shoulder variation.

Staples such as contouring sweater dresses and fitted tops in wavy prints remain. However, the collection also incorporates abstract, loose-fitting alternatives in season-appropriate chiffon. Bright multicolor shades of red, blue, and green are juxtaposed against backgrounds of black and white, making familiar yet spontaneous wardrobe additions.
