What we live in spatially has become a significant source of fashion inspiration. Like fashion, architecture is the process and product of conceiving, designing, and creating physical structures. Blending art, science, technology and humanity, architecture and fashion reflect functional, technical, social, environmental, and aesthetic considerations. Inspired by architects like Frank Gehry, Maya Lin, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Zaha Hadid, today’s designers regularly incorporate clean lines, angles, geometric shapes, and color palettes common to architecture. From literal interpretations such as sculptural sleeves to more abstract design influences, Phillip Lim, M Missoni, Opening Ceremony, and others often turn to some of architecture’s greatest masterpieces for creative stimulus. As Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is architecture; it's a matter of proportions.”
Musée Yves Saint Laurent
To be completed in late 2017 along the Rue Yves Saint Laurent, the Musee Yves Saint Laurent will pay homage to the passion and works of the legendary French designer. Featuring over 5,000 haute-couture pieces and 15,000 accessories, as well as hundreds of sketches and photographs, the location is also where Saint Laurent’s ashes were scattered following his death in 2008. According to the Fondation the museum hopes visitors will “experience the essence of the creation process within the haute couture house."

Fondation Louis Vuitton
The Fondation Louis Vuitton was conceived when Bernard Arnault, CEO of the French multi-national luxury goods conglomerate Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE, met Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry during a visit to the Guggenheim Museum in Spain. Begun in 2006, the Fondation has become an art and cultural center that regularly presents modern and contemporary creations in an effort to promote reflection and dialogue amongst artists and the public.

Brazil is home to the Niteroi Contemporary Art Museum, designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer. First opened in 1996, the saucer-shaped building was the site of Nicolas Ghesquiere's Louis Vuitton Cruise 2017 show in Rio de Janeiro. Creative manipulation of materials and aesthetics make the museum a striking visual landmark that overlooks the eastern shore of the Guanabara Bay.
