Brand Origin: From Satire to Global Fashion Powerhouse
Moschino was founded by Franco Moschino in 1983, inspired by his distaste for fashion’s obsession with seriousness and elitism. Instead of adhering to convention, Franco injected satire into his collections, transforming mundane objects and slogans into high-fashion statements. Early successes included the now-classic “Waist of Money” belt and parody T-shirts, which mocked—and celebrated—luxury simultaneously. After Franco’s passing in 1994, Rosella Jardini carried the brand forward, keeping its DNA alive while softening its edges. In 2013, Jeremy Scott took the helm as Creative Director, reintroducing Moschino as a provocateur on the global stage. Today, under Aeffe Group, Moschino continues to balance Italian craftsmanship with pop culture irreverence, making it a global fashion disruptor.
